Although the Presidency Fund Project officially ended on the 31^st of December 2009 some of the recipient projects in Call Five still need to finalise their end-of-project reports. However, based on the results of the five different calls it is possible to evaluate the current situation for the different recipient NGOs and assess the PF’s achievement vis-à-vis its objectives. If one bears in mind the observation made during the PF assessment meeting with PF recipients on 16 December  2009  that many of the NG(D)O platforms in New Member States were either in nascent or weak condition at the beginning of the PF project, the achievements of the initiative have been impressive as most of the beneficiaries have now become well established platforms with an extended and strengthened constituency with an increased knowledge of the EU institutions and EU development policy in general or on specific issues such as gender or fair trade.
