People In Need

Project Title: Enhancing EU Development Policy Debate in the Czech Republic

Implementing Organisation: People In Need- PIN, The Czech Republic

Total Budget: 54 250 euros

Request from Fund: 31 300 euros

About People in Need:

People in Need has implemented relief and development projects in crisis regions around the globe and has promoted human rights and democracy in countries repressed by totalitarian regimes over its thirteen-year history. In the Czech Republic, People in Need has worked to foster tolerance and respect for others, while raising the awareness of the situation of individuals suffering from the effects of war, long-term poverty or oppressive regimes.

Description of the project and Expected Results:

People in Need identified a lack of comprehensive analyses regarding EU development policies and weak CSO networks with the South resulting in their absence in the debate on Czech national development policies as serious deficiencies.  It proposed a series of activities many of which it had already been in the process of implementing or (the suggestion arises from both the proposal and the final report) had already been planned. The question therefore arises in how far the funding from the PF really produced an added value to work PIN was already doing, or whether its contribution was more in terms of facilitating the implementation of planned activities by providing additional funding.
